SAMSUNG SDI wins award for the first time at CES, earning recognition for PRiMX battery’s improved energy density, enhanced safety, and high power

SEOUL, Korea – November 15, 2024 – SAMSUNG SDI today announced that it has 4 CES innovation Awards ahead of the world's largest tech event. CES 2025, which will be held in Las Vegas, USA, next January. This is the first time SAMSUNG SDI has applied for the prestigious CES awards, proving the company's technological prowess of PRiMX battery products, including EV batteries, ESS batteries, and cylindrical batteries.

The CES Innovation Awards® is an annual competition honoring consumer technology products that demonstrate outstanding technology through evaluation of industry expert judges. SAMSUNG SDI received the Innovation Award Honoree for its achievements closely related to the consumer experience, including improved energy density, enhanced safety, and high power.
SAMSUNG SDI's 4 award-winning products include PRiMX680-EV, PRiMX680 Module+, SBB (SAMSUNG Battery Box) 1.5 and PRiMX50U-Power.
PRiMX680-EV is a prismatic battery for electric vehicle which uses a high-nickel NCA (nickel, cobalt, aluminum) cathode material to achieve high energy density. It combines both safety and performance through innovative design and process technologies.
PRiMX680 Module+ is an electric vehicle battery module that simplifies the structure by applying wireless communication technology to enhance production efficiency and quality. The product also maximizes safety though unique module design and CT scanning.
The SBB 1.5 is an ESS product which installs battery cells, modules, and racks in a 20-feet containerized solution, and can be used immediately after connecting to the power grid. It is also equipped with Enhanced Direct Injection (EDI) technology to prevent battery thermal diffusion.
PRiMX50U-Power is a 21700-size cylindrical battery featuring high power and fast charging technology, specializing in applications that require instant high power, such as professional power tools.
