SEOUL, Korea – August 4, 2024 – Samsung SDI today announced that the company held Tech & Career Forum 2024 in Boston, the United States, on August 3.
Samsung SDI’s own career fair Tech & Career Forum invites people who hold a master’s and/or PhD degree so they have a chance to engage with the company’s key executives and explore career opportunities. Boston, where the Saturday’s event was hosted, also houses Samsung SDI R&D America (SDIRA), the company’s first research and development center to be established in the United States. SDIRA is dedicated to working on innovative battery technologies and next-generation battery technologies.
Samsung SDI’s senior management staff attending the event included President and CEO Yoon-ho Choi, Executive Vice President (EVP) and head of R&D Center Yoon-chang Kim and EVP head of People Team Jae-woo Ahn. It invited around 90 researchers and developers working at top universities and institutes in North America.
Along with a segment d ‘Vision Talk’ where CEO Choi engaged with attendees, the Tech & Career Forum comprised a keynote speech and tech sessions led by business unit leaders under the respective theme.
During the Vision Talk, CEO Yoon-ho Choi called on those at the event to join efforts to materialize Samsung SDI’s vision, ‘To make the world greener and more sustainable through our technology.’
The tech sessions were varied into four parts of Samsung SDI’s business spectrum: automotive and energy storage system batteries, small batteries, electronic materials, and next-generation batteries. PhD holding executives became the host of the respective session to discuss the latest technology trends and future technologies undertaken by the company in each area. Participants, who each joined a session they were interested in, had interactive exchanges with Samsung SDI’s executives through question and answer sessions that followed.
A special exhibition of Samsung SDI’s key products such as all solid-state battery was set at the entrance to the Tech & Forum venue, to help those coming to the job fair have a better grasp of Samsung SDI’s technologies.
Samsung SDI plans to host two more Tech & Career Forum events this year to broaden its reach to global talent, with one scheduled in Korea later this month and the other in Europe in October.
“Talent is the most important requisite in securing ‘super-gap’ technological competitiveness,” said Samsung SDI CEO Yoon-ho Choi. “Join us in making Samsung SDI’s future as a global top-tier company by 2030.”
