A rapid penetration of internet and cloud computing makes it immeasurably important to ensure reliability and availability of data centers. Samsung SDI’s Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is the most reliable back-up power for data centers and helps to even minimize the total electricity consumption. Air conditioning systems account for approximately 40% of a data center’s total energy consumption. The broad operating temperature of Samsung SDI Li-ion battery technology helps reduce operating costs by curbing the use of air conditioning in battery rooms. Furthermore, lithium ion batteries offer significant advantages in weight and energy density over lead acid batteries, so the investment costs for space to install and maintain the equipment can be drastically reduced. Our Battery Management System offers real-time monitoring and control of the system’s functions such as state of charge(SOC) and state of health(SOH).
Samsung SDI goes further than lithium-ion UPS, creating a new value for customers through our advanced technology. Our new product UES, UPS plus ESS, offers more economical solution through efficient energy utilization of ESS. It’s already in operation for the first time in the world. Users can integrate their UPS with ESS functionality to build an economic solution of UES which will create new demands from large scale data centers, semiconductor plants, hospitals, etc.

BTS SOLUTION : Base Transceiver Station Solution
Off-grid solution for base transceiver station and back-up power
It is essential for base transceiver station(BTS) to have stable power supply and good tele-communication environment. Lithium-ion cells are more suitable for BTS applications than lead acid batteries because they are less costly to use and are capable of operating in a broader range of temperature (-20~60’C). In addition, low maintenance requirements of lithium-ion technology make it ideal for remote or inaccessible BTS sites. Samsung SDI provides cell technology for base transceiver station, spanning from large sized off-grid towers to small sized power back-up for pico and micro cells.

When installed in base transceiver stations in off-grid area together with PV panel, ESS will greatly reduce operation costs. Maintenance costs of off-grid BTS connected with PV or diesel generator will be drastically reduced by using lithium battery. Light in weight, small in size and high in energy density, Samsung SDI’s ESS is a perfect solution for mobile base station.
This is a multi-purpose battery tray developed for base transceiver station (BTS). It can be easily extended to the capacity of 16 batteries according to the need.
